Digi People: Meet Jamie, Our Senior Account Executive

January 20, 2020

Every month, we sit down with a team member at Digistorm to talk about their life, their career before Digistorm and what their experience has been since working here. Jamie has been working at Digistorm for three years in our Sales team — first as a Client Success Manager and now as our Senior Account Executive. Jamie works with schools in Australia and the United States to understand their business needs and goals and how Digistorm's products can work towards them. In this interview, we chat with Jamie about his journey to Sales, his childhood hero and his favourite part about working at Digistorm.

Hi, my name is Jamie and I'm the Senior Account Executive here at Digistorm. I've been here for coming up to three years, and my role is to connect with new schools and new clients and look for ways to solve problems that they have in their enrolments process, the way that they communicate with their prospective families or the way that they communicate with their current families. It's probably — if I may say so myself — the best role at Digistorm.

How did you end up working in Sales?

So my journey to working in Sales was that I'd just finished my Bachelors Degree of Marketing and a role came up for a Merchandiser at Coca Cola Amatil. From there I moved into a Sales management role, so my journey into Sales was somewhat accidental but here I am 16/17 years later and loving it.

20200121_090946Why did you choose to join Digistorm?

The job description for Digistorm sounded too good to be true, so I had to go and check it out for myself, and it ended up being a hundred percent true! There's a certain type of person that not only Digistorm attracts but the Directors kind of curate, and we end up just being surrounded by a bunch of legends. So coming to work every day is just a pleasure because the people are so cool.

What excites you about the future of Digistorm?

For me the most exciting part is our expansion into the United States. That's not only the fact that we are moving to be more of an international company but from a personal standpoint, the fact that I'm getting to go over to the United States and help set up that arm of the business is just mind-blowing to me.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration growing up, I think, was probably Michael Jordan because I always wanted to be able to fly like Mike and to dunk from the free-throw line. As I've gotten older I think it's actually been my Dad just being my inspiration. He is a pillar of his local community and just an all-around really good dude.

20200121_091013What's something that you've read or watched recently that you'd recommend?

I've actually watched the Kevin Hart documentary — I'm not a huge fan of Kevin Hart's comedy, but his documentary that goes into the really grittier side of his life and his drive and his motivation. And how underneath that veneer that he has, there's a real human and turmoil happening in his life. I think I binge watched that in one day, and there's like six or eight episodes. So, it was that good.

To wrap up, can you describe yourself in three emojis?
